Go Basket

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 October 2026

Summary: Go Basket helps you scan products and manage a shopping basket in participating stores. We do not require an account. Camera and location are used only for scanning and store detection. Order history is stored on your device. We do not sell your personal data.

This Privacy Policy explains how Go Basket (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information when you use the Go Basket mobile application (the “App”).

1. Who we are

Go Basket is a self-service shopping app that lets shoppers scan barcodes, build a basket, check out, and complete store exit verification at participating retailers.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the App, we may process the following:

  • Camera / images (on-device): used to scan product barcodes and QR codes. We do not upload photos of you or your surroundings to our servers as part of scanning.
  • Approximate or precise location: used only to help detect or suggest a nearby store. You can deny location permission and still use the App by selecting a store manually where available.
  • Basket and order details (on your device): product names, quantities, prices, store information, payment method labels, and order timestamps may be stored locally so you can view recent orders and complete verification.
  • App preferences: such as last selected store, stored on your device.
  • Device information (limited): standard technical information needed for the App to run (for example Android system permissions status). We do not use this for advertising profiles.

3. Information we do not collect (current version)

  • We do not require you to create an account or sign in.
  • We do not ask for your name, email, or phone number to use the core shopping flow.
  • We do not sell personal data to third parties.
  • We do not use your data for third-party advertising.

4. How we use information

  • To scan barcodes and QR codes for shopping and store verification
  • To show product names and prices in your basket
  • To help identify a nearby participating store
  • To keep a local record of recent orders for receipts and exit checks
  • To operate, maintain, and improve the App

5. Product catalogue

Product information (such as barcode, name, and price) is loaded from our product catalogue systems so the App can match scanned items. This is store catalogue data, not personal information about you.

6. Payments

Where payments are enabled, checkout may use Open Banking or other payment providers. Payment credentials (such as bank login details) are handled by the payment provider — not by Go Basket. We may store a local record that an order was placed (amount, items, store, status) on your device.

If a payment provider’s own privacy policy applies, you should also review that provider’s terms when paying.

7. Where information is stored

In the current version of the App, basket history, pending orders, and preferences are primarily stored on your device (local storage).

If we later introduce cloud features (for example synced order history or multi-store catalogues), we will update this policy and, where required, ask for additional consent.

8. Sharing of information

We share information only when needed to provide the service, for example:

  • With a participating store, as needed to complete a purchase or exit verification for that store visit
  • With payment providers, when you choose to pay through them
  • If required by law, regulation, or a valid legal request

We do not sell your personal information.

9. Data retention

Local order and preference data remains on your device until you clear the App’s storage, uninstall the App, or we provide an in-app clear option. Uninstalling the App removes locally stored App data from that device.

10. Children’s privacy

Go Basket is intended for general audiences and shoppers capable of making purchases. It is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Your choices and rights

  • You can deny camera or location permission in your device settings (some features will not work without camera access).
  • You can clear App storage or uninstall the App to remove local data.
  • If you are in the UK/EEA, you may have rights under applicable data protection law (including access, correction, deletion, and objection). Contact us using the email above to make a request.

12. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to a mobile shopping app. No method of electronic storage is 100% secure. Please keep your device locked and up to date.

13. International users

Go Basket is primarily intended for use in the United Kingdom. If you use the App from elsewhere, your information may be processed in the UK.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
